Terms
Brief is offered free while in beta. Using it means accepting what follows.
What Brief is
A reader that summarises news published elsewhere. Brief employs no journalists and files no reporting of its own. Every card names the publication that wrote the story it came from.
Cards are made automatically
Card text is produced by software and language models reading the source article. Nobody reviews a card before you see it. Figures are checked against the wording of the original and dropped when they cannot be matched, but automated systems still make mistakes: a misread number, a lost qualifier, a quote given to the wrong person.
Treat a card as a pointer to a story, not as the story. Read the original before relying on it, and never treat a card as financial, legal, medical, or safety advice.
No warranty
Brief is provided as it is, without warranty of any kind. It may be incomplete, delayed, unavailable, or wrong. To the fullest extent the law allows, Brief is not liable for loss arising from your use of it or from anything you do on the strength of a card.
Other people’s work
Headlines, figures, and quotations belong to the publications that produced them and appear here with attribution. If you hold rights in material shown on a card and want it removed, write to us through the contact page and it will be taken down.
Fair use of the service
Please do not scrape the feed at volume, resell it, or present its output as your own reporting. Access may be limited where use disrupts the service for others.
Changes
These terms may change as the product does. Material changes will be noted on this page.
